Tips for New Year’s Eve with animals

Tip 1:
Animal communication and surrogate work

  • Explain to your animal verbally and non-verbally what is coming (yes, animals understand us, even better than you might think…)
  • Find an animal communicator and have them explain New Year’s Eve to your animal, as well as see if your animal has any concerns, wishes, and how you can support them
  • Surrogate work: Find someone who can work with your animal as a proxy before New Year’s Eve to resolve any uncertainties in good time (ideally someone who specializes in animals)

PS: Yes, that someone can also be me, as I have created my “Animal Relaxation” package especially for this purpose 😉

Tip 2:
Practice makes perfect

  • Start playing videos of New Year’s Eve in good time
  • Start quietly and gradually turn up the volume
  • Hearing protection for animals can also be helpful
  • Train with the hearing protection in good time so that your pet will tolerate it
  • Don’t forget to give rewards in between

Tip 3:
Preparation at home

  • Have plenty of treats ready and give them to your pet during the fireworks
  • Close the blinds
  • Hang blankets on the doors for sound insulation
  • Create places of retreat
  • Go into a room that is as soundproof as possible, where your pet feels comfortable, and that has as few windows as possible or no windows at all
  • Use familiar items such as blankets, baskets, boxes, cardboard box, toys, stuffed animals, etc.

  • Put ear protection on your pet (if tolerated)

  • Feed your pet a little earlier and go outside earlier so that you don’t have to go out during the fireworks
  • Put your pet on a leash and double secure it (harness and collar)
  • Attach a tracker to the collar

Tip 4:
Reassurance

  • Talk to your pet in a gentle and calm voice
  • Say positive affirmations
  • For example, play brown noise
  • Gently tap between your pet’s eyes/on its forehead, at the level of the third eye -> calming point
  • Go to the airport (there are usually extra zones for animals on New Year’s Eve, as fireworks are strictly prohibited there)
  • Ask your vet / pharmacist for sedatives
  • Radiate calmness and serenity yourself, as this will be transferred to your animal (keyword: mirror neurons).
  • Stay with your pet!
  • Let your pet decide whether it wants to be alone or stay close to you, maybe even cuddle up.

Tip 5:
After the “storm”

  • Be careful when you go for a walk after New Year’s Eve (there may still be fireworks lying around)
  • Give yourself and your pet time to get back into a normal routine
  • Don’t rush anything: if your pet is afraid to go outside, don’t force it

Bonus “tip”:
If it’s already “too late”

Pet disappeared on/after New Year’s Eve?
-> Book an animal communication session to find each other as quickly as possible and find out how your pet is doing, etc.

Pet’s behavior changed after New Year’s Eve?
-> Animal communication can uncover the reasons for the change in behavior and provide reassurance.
=> Representative work can also be very helpful here!

If you would like me to help your animal with animal communication and representative work, book the “Animal Relaxation” package.

I look forward to giving your furry friend the most pleasant New Year’s Eve possible.
